YOGA

Hello and welcome!

Yoga is a lot like my career in journalism: Both are about spreading light and shifting perspective. My influences are multidisciplinary, with an emphasis on fluid movement and learning to observe without judgment. I love helping people feel stronger and more at ease in their bodies. I specialize in yoga-and-writing workshops, and I teach private lessons and public classes in Portland, Ore. and online at Past Tense Yoga Studio in Washington, D.C.

Here’s a link to my recorded classes. They’re 40-minute all-levels classes with 5-10 minutes of gentle warm up, 20 minutes of meditative flow, and 10 minutes of cool down and rest. Chill Sunday morning vibe! Please honor your energy, experience level and any injuries. (They’re free, but email me for a password.)

I began teaching in 2013 after my initial 200-hour yoga training in Washington, D.C. I followed that up with studies in biomechanics, vinyasa sequencing, prenatal yoga, restorative yoga and studies in yoga for students with larger bodies. In 2015, I completed my RYT-500 teacher training program at the Yoga Center of Columbia, Md. I also served as a volunteer yoga teacher with Living Yoga, a Portland organization that brought trauma-informed yoga classes to youth and adults in corrections and reentry, substance use disorder treatment and recovery and community health programs.
